Cycling Along The Way...

Riders of the wheel. Racers, Roadies, Mountain bikers, Touring cyclists, Commuters, and others. Diamond frames, recumbents, trikes, and more. Sharing a web of connections often misunderstood or unappreciated by those who don't ride. Herewith, my attempt to share some of the more rational thoughts that flit around inside my head while bicycling, knocking back a brew or three, or just thinking about life. Reviews of bicycles, gear, touring, and more, plus some unsolicited posts about people, politics, and philosophy. Other things, too. Me: retired, gave up my TV in 1988, avid cyclist, several cross country tours completed with more to come. Your thoughts?

Rainy Weekend and Monday...

Our friend, Merri Rudd, came to visit this weekend from Albuquerque.  It was a mixed weekend for weather.  Rain, wind and sun.  Yes, a good description of Spring in New Mexico.  Today, it is completely overcast and raining on and off.  Last night, we went to dinner at 1zero6 (1zero6.com) and Merri bought dinner...thanks again, Merri!  On Sunday, we went to the Gila Hot Springs and soaked for a while.  Met a couple from Delaware that was here to do a week long Serra Club maintenance effort at the Gila Cliff Dwellings....Bob and Carla.  Bob showed me his Frog Togg rain suit.  Interesting stuff.  He liked it quite a bit...and it's very inexpensive.  Bob thought I might like to use a Frog Togg jacket cycling in the rain.  I prefer a poncho actually... they provide more ventilation than any other rain gear.

Tomorrow, it's back to the mountains for another 54 mile ride to the Mimbres turn off.  It's supposed to be in the 70's.  I like that.  Now, for those who remember this...Marvin Gaye singing the National Anthem...
