Cycling Along The Way...

Riders of the wheel. Racers, Roadies, Mountain bikers, Touring cyclists, Commuters, and others. Diamond frames, recumbents, trikes, and more. Sharing a web of connections often misunderstood or unappreciated by those who don't ride. Herewith, my attempt to share some of the more rational thoughts that flit around inside my head while bicycling, knocking back a brew or three, or just thinking about life. Reviews of bicycles, gear, touring, and more, plus some unsolicited posts about people, politics, and philosophy. Other things, too. Me: retired, gave up my TV in 1988, avid cyclist, several cross country tours completed with more to come. Your thoughts?

SILVIO Crash and Burn Addendum...

The road rash is still not causing any great discomfort.  Took the bike to Twin Sisters Cycling to have Annie take a look at the bike...and my road rash.  She was surprised when I told her that this was my first ever bicycle crash.  Ask me if I mountain biked.  Told her no, that it didn't interest me.  Annie said that, if I were a mountain biker, I'd have had more experience with crashing.  Maybe that's why I don't mountain bike?  Certainly not an enticement.

Tomorrow, she'll put a new 36T middle chain ring on the bike to replace the older one that needs to be replaced due to wear, which is probably what caused the cranks/chainrings to lock up this morning.  Should have the Silvio back by tomorrow afternoon.  I will be more cautious in the future with shifting like I did.  Start the pedaling more slowly.  This morning, when I shifted from the large chainring to the middle one, I pushed hard right away.  Now, I'll do the first turn or two of the cranks a bit more deliberately, so I know that it's not going to lock up.

I'll post a photo of the new chainring tomorrow when I get the bike back....

A tune to go out with...Diana Krall doing "Fly Me To The Moon"...one of my favorites...
