As of today, the Whitewater-Baldy Complex fire is 51% contained and the fire crews seem to be containing it as best they can. Weather remains dry..humidity today is a whopping 8%...and winds have been relatively calm. It's actually a bit overcast today and not from smoke, for a change. Monsoons will start in a few weeks...fingers crossed...hopefully. The monsoons last, on and off, for a few months, into September, starting usually the first part of July or the end of June. Varies from year to year. Mixed blessing...with the monsoons also comes lightning, which, as this fire can attest to, starts fires.
Here are some photos, which do not do the fire justice in terms of its size...over 280,075 acres or 438 sq. miles plus dozens of structures.
Another tune to exit with ...Clint Black performing, "Burn One Down"...pun intended.
