Cycling Along The Way...

Riders of the wheel. Racers, Roadies, Mountain bikers, Touring cyclists, Commuters, and others. Diamond frames, recumbents, trikes, and more. Sharing a web of connections often misunderstood or unappreciated by those who don't ride. Herewith, my attempt to share some of the more rational thoughts that flit around inside my head while bicycling, knocking back a brew or three, or just thinking about life. Reviews of bicycles, gear, touring, and more, plus some unsolicited posts about people, politics, and philosophy. Other things, too. Me: retired, gave up my TV in 1988, avid cyclist, several cross country tours completed with more to come. Your thoughts?

Once In A Blue Moon...Tonight

Once in a blue moon is when there are two full moons in one month.  Tonight is the night.  It's a little overcast here, but should be clear later so I can check it out.  With that, I'm reminded of a song, "Blue Moon", by The Marcels.  My best friend from Glens Falls, NY, where I grew up, is Gary Langdon.  He and I would hang out in the cellar at my house, listening to 45rpm records and lifting weights.

This song was one of the ones that is forever etched in my brain.  We must have listened to it a thousand times or more because we'd play it on the record player and hear it daily on the AM radio station out of Albany, NY.  Unfortunately, radio stations have only gotten worse on AM or FM.  These days, online radio stations are much better.  And my preference now is jazz.  Whodda thunk?

Well, here are two versions from The Marcels of "Blue Moon" back in 1961; the other more recent, as you can tell by how old they are.  Enjoy...
