Cycling Along The Way...

Riders of the wheel. Racers, Roadies, Mountain bikers, Touring cyclists, Commuters, and others. Diamond frames, recumbents, trikes, and more. Sharing a web of connections often misunderstood or unappreciated by those who don't ride. Herewith, my attempt to share some of the more rational thoughts that flit around inside my head while bicycling, knocking back a brew or three, or just thinking about life. Reviews of bicycles, gear, touring, and more, plus some unsolicited posts about people, politics, and philosophy. Other things, too. Me: retired, gave up my TV in 1988, avid cyclist, several cross country tours completed with more to come. Your thoughts?

Starting To Push The Distance...And Jourdi Bosley Comes To Silver City.

This week, I've been focused on pushing the distance with my riding.  On Sunday, I rode 32 miles, followed by a 16 mile ride to Pinos Altos, NM, for the climbing on Monday, then rode 40 miles yesterday.  Today, I'm going to do a short ride to stretch my legs.  Tomorrow, a 20 mile ride, maybe more, to keep up the pace.  Then, on Sunday, I'll head out for a 50 mile ride.  I'd like to get in a couple of overnight rides with gear before it gets too chilly.  Fall has most definitely settled in.  If I could find a place that has weather like September here, I'd move there today.  Warm days; cool nights.  Fabulous weather.  Now, it's fairly warm days with colder nights.  Acceptable, but September weather wins hands down.

Tomorrow night or Friday night, a touring cyclist from outside of Cincinnati, OH, should be showing up to spend a night or two.  Jourdi Bosley is her name.  She's 21 yrs old, riding by herself.  When she leaves Silver City, she'll be headed to Los Angeles, CA, then up the coast to Vancouver, BC, Canada.  She will most likely run into warm weather around L.A., but, as she heads north, the weather will become wetter.  Particularly in the Northwest...Oregon, Washington, British Columbia.  Brrrr!

A French Canadian who's riding the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route is also nearby, but, since we're hosting Jourdi, we don't have room for Laurent.  He's on his way to the Mexico border and will be returning to Silver City by Friday of this week.  There are several other hosting options in Silver City, so he should have no trouble finding a place to stay.

Short post today.  No pictures either.  But, here's a tune to exit with.  Enjoy...Cole Porter performing, "You're The Top".
